In coordination with We Are Sharing Hope SC, Baum’s family organized an Honor Walk to mark his passing on what would have been his 24th birthday.
On August 29th, Baum was wheeled through lines of loved ones holding signs and sharing memories. They commemorated his life before Baum underwent organ recovery surgery.
The symbolic walk celebrated Baum’s immense generosity one final time. Over 100 friends and family members came to cry, mourn and say goodbye before his organs brought renewed life to others.
Seven Lifesaving Organ Donations
Thanks to Baum’s ultimate act of kindness as a registered organ donor, seven individuals in dire need were given a second chance at life.
Both of Baum’s kidneys were successfully transplanted to patients suffering from kidney failure. His donated liver provided a critical lifeline to another recipient as well.
Several other patients also benefited from donated tissue and corneas. Baum’s heartbreaking death allowed multiple people to continue enjoying full, healthy lives.
