Throughout the days of creation, we are informed that, Animals do have a certain level of consciousness but they do not have souls. They are dependent on us for survival even if they cannot discern good from wrong. Because God gave them to us from the very beginning of creation. Therefore, it is our sole responsibility to care of them.
Since they lack the body, soul, and spirit, they cannot experience heaven or hell way we do.
We can read what the Holy Bible says regarding the fate of humans and animals in Ecclesiastes 3:18. Verse 18 through 22 emphasize the distinction of what we talk about.
“I said in my heart with regard to the children of man that God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts. For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity. All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return. Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upward and the spirit of the beast goes down into the earth? So I saw that there is nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his work, for that is his lot. Who can bring him to see what will be after him?”

The Roles Of Animals In Creation
Animals despite not having souls, play a role in the lives of humans and creation in general. The animals serve as livestock so that, we humans may sustain and have descendants. We can record this in Genesis 9:9:10.
“I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you — the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you — every living creature on earth”
Animals are also preserved by mankinds therefore, it is the duty of man to take good care of them for their own use. They might not posses souls and may not be given the gift of salvation but they also depend on us to survive.
“Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals” (Psalm 36:6).
