Darius Nelson Obituary, Death – Darius Campbell Danesh, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41, was a pioneer in the early days of reality television. In 2001, he starred on Popstars, the first of its kind, which launched his career as a reality television star.

As Darius Danesh, he had a ponytail, exuded self-confidence, and gave off the appearance of someone who might win. At his most theatrical, he performed an over-the-top, falsetto version of the Britney Spears classic… Baby One More Time was performed by the contestant before the judges Nigel Lythgoe, Nicki Chapman, and Paul Adam kicked him off the show halfway through the competition.

He was honest enough to acknowledge, “If I were you, I wouldn’t have voted for me.” Despite this, the young man, who was only 20 years old at the time and was in the midst of his studies in English and philosophy at Edinburgh University, vowed to “Nasty Nigel” that he would release a platinum-certified album before he turned 30. He then participated in the next season of Pop Idol.

The show that succeeded Popstars, putting to rest any notions that presentation was more important than substance. He finished third, behind Gareth Gates and the winner, Will Young, although he declined a recording contract that was offered to him by Simon Cowell, who was developing his career as a judge and TV personality after working for years as an executive at a record label.

Will Young was the winner of the competition.Although Cowell had intended for Darius to release a cover version of the Tom Jones song “It’s Not Unusual,” Darius was more interested in recording his own original music. “I thought that if I released It’s Not Unusual I would be selling myself short,” he commented at one point. “It’s Not Unusual” Instead, Darius, as he would be named on discs, signed with Mercury Records to make his debut album, which was titled Dive In (2002).

Executive producing the album was Steve Lillywhite, who was also responsible for launching the career of U2. The album became a Top 10 hit, and Darius rapidly fulfilled his goal to have it certified platinum thanks to its success. Darius authored all of the songs on the album. In addition, his first single, “Colourblind,” debuted at number one on the charts that same year. In the music video for the song, Darius can be seen being tossed out of a car in the midst of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Spain while wearing a black suit and holding his guitar. After this, he changes into jeans, which is meant to symbolize that he is letting go of his Pop Idol persona.
