Two young women lost their lives in a single-vehicle car accident on the southbound 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 18-year-old Ashley Salinas and 19-year-old Stephanie Guerra.

The incident occurred on Thursday at around 1:40 a.m. when their car hit a slope on the highway, causing it to flip over and throwing both women from the vehicle.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol were immediately dispatched to the scene and found the car on its side near the freeway and Gage Avenue. Unfortunately, both Guerra and Salinas were pronounced dead on the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Investigations are ongoing, and no information has been released about what caused the accident. Multiple lanes on the northbound 110 Freeway before Gage Avenue were closed for an extended period while authorities investigated the incident.

In another tragic incident, a head-on collision occurred in the Manchester Square neighbourhood of South Los Angeles, resulting in the death of one man and leaving another in critical condition.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the accident happened a few minutes after 1 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of West Florence Avenue and South Gramercy Place.

According to initial investigations, one of two automobiles travelling on Florence Avenue crossed the centre line and collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of one of the cars, a man in his forties, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and authorities are still investigating. Traffic in the area was affected, and residents were advised to take alternative routes.

It is always a tragedy when lives are lost due to car accidents. The families and loved ones of Ashley Salinas, Stephanie Guerra, and the man who lost his life in the head-on collision are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

It is essential to always exercise caution while driving and to stay focused on the road to avoid accidents that could cause harm to oneself and others.
